Each club within County Durham is supported by the County Federation, and the County Chairman. Durham Young Farmers clubs are a self funding charity. Clubs are affiliated to the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC). Club meetings are usually weekly or fortnightly and are organised and run by YFC members themselves. Usually the clubs close down over the busy summer months. YFC clubs are a democratic organisation and the members elect club officers annually to take responsibility for the club on behalf of its members, and to organise the activities and meetings members want to take part in. This could be anything from talks and trips to preparing for competitions or fundraising for charity. These clubs provide an opportunity for likeminded young people to learn, develop and enjoy each other’s company in a safe and secure environment. Once young people join and become a paid up member of their club they will receive club membership card from CDFYFC (County Durham Federation of Young Farmers Clubs) which means they are covered by YFC insurance when attending club meetings, trips and competitions. All clubs have public liability insurance in place. Anyone can become a member from the age of 10years to 28years
YFC is a voluntary youth organisation and has a duty of care to its members. In order to keep club members safe during YFC activities, each club works to the guidelines below and County has the following officers in place :
